10 Places To Get Free eBooks
“eBooks” are the electronic form of books. you can read eBooks on the internet or download them to your computer (most often as PDF or text files) or to a eBook reader (like Amazon’s Kindle (aff)) to read. eBooks are just like traditional books, only that they’re in electronic form and are more portable.
So, here are 10 places you can download free eBooks from. Enjoy
1. Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenberg is a HUGE (and probably the most popular) collection of free eBooks on the internet. Currently, there are over 27,000 free eBooks available for download. You can search for books based on language, authors, titles, type [audio books, music sheets and so on] and so on. This is THE place to go to get free eBooks.
2. Scribd

Scribd is a place where people upload reading material to be read by anyone. Basically, anyone can become a writer and express his thoughts on Scribd without having to go through the hassle of getting a book published the traditional way. You can write up anything and share it with the world at Scribd. With more than 50 million readers every month and more than 50,000 documents uploaded each day, Scribd is one cool service
3. Google Book Search

A service by the mighty Google, Google Book Search puts the power of Google at your fingertips and lets you search over seven million books. Note that not all books are available in full because of copyright issues, but quite a few are. Categories include from fiction to non-fiction to random subjects and even magazines.
4. Wikibooks

From the people who brought you Wikipedia (and other useful services), Wikibooks contains thousands of free books for anyone to read. Do note that anyone can edit the content (like in Wikipedia), so if you find any error, correct it
5. Baen Free Library

The Baen Free Library is a sub-division of Baen [you can buy books here]. This library has a small [albeit growing] collection of titles. You can get the books in HTML or RTF format.
6. Wowio

Wowio has hundreds of books available for you to read. You can read them for free on the site itself, or pay to download books as PDF files. Wowio seems a pretty robust service with a wide range of titles to choose from. Categories range from cooking to games to religion.
7. Podiobooks [AUDIO]

Podiobooks are serialized audiobooks, distributed via RSS [like a podcast]. You find a “podiobook” you like, and you subscribe to its feed to get future episodes, or download episodes to your computer. The FAQ explain it all. Enjoy “listening” to books!
8. ManyBooks

ManyBooks is a service with over 23 000 books available for free download. The site is clean and well-designed, and easy to use. You can download books to a variety of eBook readers (like these ones). You can also subscribe to the RSS feeds of different categories or languages to stay up-to-date on new additions.
9. PDFbooks
PDFbooks has over 7000 books for free download. You can search for books based on author or titles, or see random books. The design of the site is not terribly usable, but it’s good enough for one to get by.
10. The Online Books Page
![]()
The Online Books Page is about as simple as it gets. There are over 35,000 free books from all over the web. You can search the archive by title, author and subject. The best thing I like about this site is that it’s VERY simple and clean. Getting a book shouldn’t be a hassle
