I think I like Pegasus the best, because it looks that I could possibly replicate it one day if I had talent~!

Number 13 isn’t a kayake. It’s a man in a singles rowing boat. Kayakes don’t have two oars, and the oar isn’t mounted on the boat in a kayake. Rowing boats do.

    Awesome gallery, though.

Traditional Origami is only made from a single, perfect square of folded paper.

Most of these are nontraditional, but still amazing works of art. If I had to guess, Pegasus, the bird, and the lion may be traditional.

We made 1000 cranes once for a wedding. It’s much more difficult than it sounds. I believe there is a story about a Zen student making 1000 cranes as a lesson in patience.

    Great post, thank you.

Your footnote comments are very, very annoying.

“The adventurous man and his kayak.”
“Now is this brilliant or what? It must have taken days ”

When you don’t know what to say… just don’t say anything!

Quite a few of those, including the jedis and the dragon are works of Satoshi Kamiya, one of the world’s greatest (and youngest!) origami masters. If you want to see some incredible stuff, check out his book, as he has other, completely different dragons, as well as amazing works.

Bobby: Come on man! If you feel they’re annoying, don’t read them. :)

    Fred, I didn’t know that: thanks :)

As one of the commenters above pointed out, many of these aren’t pure (one sheet of paper) origami, but they’re very beautiful. My favorite origami site is http://www.xanderfolds.com/ where there are some amazing original origami designs. I’ve got some photos of his creations on my photoblog as well.

Most of these models are traditional origami, and are folded from single uncut squares. Some of the authors are:
    1) Crane by Roman Diaz (single square)
    2) Yoda by Fumiaki Kawahata (single square)
    3) Triceratops v2 by Fumiaki Kawahata (single square)
    4) Above Yoda model, 2 Jedis, modified from Wizard by Kamiya Satoshi, all single squares
    5) Little Bird by Kamiya Satoshi (single square)
    6) Traditional crane (single square)
    7) Traditional crane (single square)
    8) Habitiat Lightshade by Jane Norcross (non traditional, glue)
    9) Modules, not sure…
    10) Lion by Kamiya Satoshi (single square)
    11) Modules, not sure…
    12) Modules, not sure…
    13) Not sure on this one
    14) Ryu Zin 3.1 by Kamiya Satoshi (single square – honestly!)
    15) Pegasus by Fumiaki Kawahata (single square)
    16) Traditional Dollar bill fold
    17) Traditional Dollar bill fold

The modules are probably folded from single squares, but I’m not much of an expert on modular origami.
