9 Useful Online Photo Editing Tools
We all have to edit photos and pictures every now and then, don’t we? But what if you don’t have access to photo editing software like Photoshop? What do you do then? The solution is to use online photo editing tools. There are loads and loads of such tools available on the internet. You upload the pictures you want edited, and simply edit them!
Here are 9 useful online photo editing tools that you can use to get the job done.
1. GIFWorks
GIFWorks is one of the oldest online photo editing tools on the internet. Choose the image file to be uploaded, and add a variety effects, optimize, and more!
2. Pixlr
Pixlr is just like a typical photo editing software (like GIMP), but, it’s all online. Pixlr has an extremely detailed interface (at least for an online editor). You can create new files or upload from your computer to edit them. You can add layers and apply filters and what not. Quite useful.
3. Pixastic
Pixastic is a Javascript based online photo editor. It’s currently in beta, so you may experience some problems while using it. There are a variety of effects that you can apply to your images. One plus point of Pixastic is that you can fetch images that are on internet servers, rather than on your computer. Just plug in the URL of the image file, and voila! One gripe about this service, however, is that the maximum size of the images should be no greater than about 4 MB. So you can’t do heavy duty work using Pixastic.
4. Phixr
Phixr has a sleek interface. You need to have an account to edit your photos, but you can create a “temporary” account, which is only temporary, and lasts only 2 hours (and all your stuff is deleted from the servers). But if you create an account (which is free), there are no such restrictions.
As with Pixlr, along with uploading a file from your computer, you can also upload images from an internet location (given that you have the URL of the image file at hand). You may find the interface a little crowded, but you’ll get used to it. After you get done with editing, you can upload your photo to various services (Facebook, Flickr, etc)
5. FotoFlexer
FotoFlexer has a clean, AJAX based interface. You can upload photos from your computer, or fetch them from your Facebook, Flickr accounts (and other places too). After choosing the file to upload, you have to wait till the whole program loads up. This may put you off. But once the program loads up, it’s smooth sailing from then. Apply a variety of effects to the image, decorate it with glitter text and stickers, and do lots more. You can even add animations to your image (animated stickers, stars and “lovies”).
Once you’re done, either download the edited image to your computer, or share it with the world!
6. Picnik
Picnik is a powerful online photo editing tool. The free version includes loads of features: crop and resize your pictures, add special effects, and more. The premium version ($24.95 a year) has more features. And, you can get your photos from your Facebook, Flickr, and other accounts too.
7. piZap
From the piZap site: “piZap is a fun free photo editor that lets people easily create wacky images with their digital pictures.”
Just choose the image you want to edit, and edit! You can add speech bubbles to your images, “edit” a face by adding cartoon glasses, eyes, hair, and so on. piZap is more suited for lightheaded and fun photo editing.
8. Flauntr
Flauntr is essentially many services into one. Different parts of the service allow you to do different things to your photos (stylR to do quick one-click editing, editR to do more advanced editing, and so on). However, you need to register before you can start editing. Registration is free.
9. Pixer.us
Pixer.us is a tool to do quick fixes to your photos. Just upload your photo, and edit!
So, what are your favourite online photo editing tools?

Very good analysis of online photo editors.
I have one question and will appreciate if you can answer me
AM looking for an online photo editing tool which can do the following
1) select any portion out of the picture / image
2) replace that protion with another picture
for example I have a picture of someone’s yard, I want to replace its grass with concrete tiles so that the customer can view how the yard is going to look with concrete instead of the grass
Thanks
@Subash hey Subash, thanks for dropping by.
