7 Online Chart Creation Tools
Statistical charts and graphs are important ways to display raw information in a graphical form, and to make it digestible. There are lots of ways to display information (pie charts, line graphs, bar charts, and so on), but the purpose of each is the same: to convert numbers and words into a graphical form that is easy to read and understand.
All of us need to draw up such charts at one point or another in our academic and professional lives. There are software like Microsoft Excel that allow you to do this, but there are many online tools chart creation tools too, that you can use to easily make beautiful graphs and charts. This is a list of 7 Online Chart Creation Tools.
1. Google Chart Generator
Although it has a slightly confusing interface, the Google Chart Generator is really useful. You can create a variety of charts: pie charts, line graphs, bar charts, or even meters (like the speedometer in your car). You can even create a custom map of the world with particular regions highlighted. All you have to do is just plug the data in!
2. Create a Graph
Create a Graph has a tabbed interface. You select the kind of chart you’d like to make (choose from pie, bar, line, area, or XY charts) and then go step by step through the tabs (adding data, labels, etc), and you’re done. You can, at the end, download or print your chart.
Do remember that Create a Graph isn’t as detailed as, say the Google Chart Generator or other tools.
3. Hohli
Hohli is a slick and user-friendly online chart builder. You go through a series of options (choosing chart type and size, inserting data, adding a title, etc) and you’re done. There are a variety of chart types you can choose from (bar, line, pie, etc). Quite useful.
4. ChartGizmo
You have to have an account (registration is free) at ChartGizmo before you can start making any charts. However, there are quite a lot of features. Available types of charts include pie, bar, line, ring, scatter and so on. You can also import data from Microsoft Excel to use to create your charts. And, should you get stuck, there’s even a manual to help you out.
5. ChartPart
ChartPart is a simple, no nonsense tool that you can use to create graphs and charts on the fly. The interface is very simple (too simple, perhaps) but it gets the job done.
6. Chart Tool
Chart Tool supports several different kinds of charts, including bar charts, pie charts, line charts, bubble charts and radar plots. It has a tabbed interface, like other online chart tools. You select the type of chart to make, input the data, add labels, and you’re done. Chart Tool’s interface is neat, and easy to use.
7. PieColor
PieColor is for building pie charts only. You choose the number of “slices” your pie chart has, and then input the details. One issue is that you can use only percentage values (i.e. all values have to add up to 100%). You can choose between a 3D or 2D pie chart.
